LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: I am extremely grateful that I get to live on the traditional territory of the Wolastoqiyik (Malisset) and Mi’Kmaq Peoples. I acknowledge the damage and injustice that has been done to First Nations Peoples by settlers and that still needs to be addressed and corrected. I promise to revere this land that I live, play and create on; to treat its resources with respect; and to support Indigenous business and cultural initiatives whenever and wherever possible.

What happens next as Putin continues his cruel drive to recreate the Soviet Union?
When Putin invaded the sovereign nation of Ukraine, he clearly thought that he’d be able to install a puppet president in Kyiv within short order. He had Belarus and Chechnya under his wing, time to add to the list. As … Continue reading
Peace on Earth, goodwill towards all – once more with feeling!
A post I wrote 4 years ago entitled Peace on Earth, goodwill toward men: wouldn’t that be nice! is getting renewed interest during this special season. Written four long years ago now. Long before the January 6 riots in the U.S. Long … Continue reading
Peace and Gratitude, why do they continue to be so elusive?

Will greed and self-interest always overpower compassion and cooperation?
If the current state of the world is anything to go by, the answer to the title question appears to be a resounding YES. I sure wish I felt otherwise. This post is my response to the third and final … Continue reading
With so much despair in the world, maybe a little humour can help … a bit!
So many events in the world are tearing us apart. I’ll get to what I hope will bring you a few laughs, but first I need to unburden myself of some of what’s causing my despair. This is, sadly, hardly … Continue reading
Map Monday: The Vikings would like to dispute Russia’s claim on Ukraine
It’s been some time since my last Map Monday, one of my favourite excuses for meandering the Internet for map discoveries. I’ve been wanting to do a map post on the Vikings for some time, but never did I expect … Continue reading
Easter, Passover, and Ramadan are aligning in 2022, but their underlying messages aren’t getting out!
For people celebrating Easter and Passover this weekend, it’s unusual for these two important religious celebrations to have the same dates, but fairly common for them to occur in close proximity. The dates for both are tied to the beginning … Continue reading
Fleeing Ukrainians – why does it never stop?
When we think of paintings by the famous French painter Mark Chagall (actually Russian-French), we typically think of his dreamlike themes and brilliant use of colour. Always imaginative. Often free-floating. But he also painted powerful paintings that didn’t dance and … Continue reading
