Sadly, as hot spots of COVID infections keep popping up around the world, we need to be reminded that we cannot let our guard down, both for ourselves and for others. The only weapons we have at the moment that we know can work are social distancing and wearing our masks. Here is a small sample of guidelines from around the world as to how you can judge that you are really 2m (6 ft) from others by imagining animals between you. It works for sports equipment, too. Maybe you’d like to add your own guidelines!
Addendum
I would have thought that the moose poster is most representative of Canada (and Maine),
but having just been to my local Tim Horton’s, the most Canadian measure for accurate social distancing is clearly the 46 timbits rule! [For non-Canadian readers, timbits are little donut balls.]
Love this

😊 And I didn’t even include the one with a long snake (shudder). Maybe for NYC there should be a poster for 2/3 of a taxi?! A bike length?

Ha! I’m trying to think of one…

Glad you liked it, Tim. There are lots more, from moose to golf club lengths. Your bike must be about 2 m!

Fun! A lighter look at this dreadful pandemic. I guess for Maine it would be moose.

Lol. Same for New Brunswick. And there definitely is a moose version. 😄

Aw, these made me chuckle! It is nice, that we are able to find humor during these times

Thanks, Be Kitschig. It’s not always easy to find humor these days, is it? Somehow we need to keep trying. Sigh.

I couldn’t find any, so you may be onto a gold mine if you come up with a winner, A.S. How about 8-12 hedgehogs or 15 cups of tea?? 😏

Width of a ‘London black cab’………… the best I could come up with that’s printable in good company lol!

Definitely a winner. Now you just need to make a poster with the London cab replacing a moose or caribou and the UK is all set! Brilliant!!

Now those are social distancing guidelines I can appreciate. Maybe the stores could actually bring in an alligator or bear – that would certainly keep people apart!

Lol. Now that’s my idea of a good suggestion. Brilliant!

Just as an aside – while shopping today (wearing both mask and gloves), I got a little distracted and put my items on the register belt sooner than I should have, which elicited a “Social Distancing!” comment from the lady in front of me. Had there been an alligator or bear between us, I would have paid a lot more attention.

It’s funny, isn’t it, how even though we’re completely onside and aware of protocol, when we find ourselves in a familiar environment the long-established routines kick in. I did something similar today. There is no doubt that an alligator would have brought me up short! 😄

Some brilliant catchy ideas…I like the caribou, moose and alligator the best.

So true. Not sure that it changes the minds of the naysayers, but it’s fun! Stay safe, Joyce.
