The day we’ve all been waiting for is here. Today is International Quilting Day! All day long!! Today’s your day to finish a project you’ve been meaning to finish for some time now. Or have an excuse to do nothing but quilt all day, because it’s International Quilting Day. Or start a project you’ve been thinking about for some time now, but haven’t found the time … or the motivation. Start going through your fabric stash. Or head to your local fabric store to get some inspiration. The possibilities are endless!
My quilting activity today is going to be to finish off the two TV-watching quilted throws I’ve been making for our two smallest grandkids.
In January I came up with a design idea, then completely threw it out the window when I went to the fabric store and found fabric I loved (Lego fabric!) that screamed out for a very different plan of action. I cut and started piecing the tops in the cheery company of my Christmas amaryllis.
In February I completed the tops and was ready to start quilting. (You can see the snow out on the deck.)
And now, on March 19, International Quilting Day, I’m finishing off hemming the borders, after which I’m going to pack the little quilts into the boxes I’ve bought especially for this purpose and mail them off to the intended recipients. It was my first time trying a flannel backing and I really liked working with it. So soft, so easy to pull the knots through the backing. Just think, next week I can start thinking about my next quilting project!
What about you? What projects are you working on? What will you do to commemorate International Quilting Day?! 🙂
I love your cozy LEGO quilts. They’re a delight.
Many thanks. Let’s hope my young grandsons agree!
Guess I missed it! The quilts look wonderful!

You can always designate tomorrow as your personal Intl Quilting Day, Gill! 😊
Quilts are lovely. Lego fabric – how cool! I didn’t know and it’s mid afternoon… Might pretend it was tomorrow and start our camper quilt.
LOL. Bernie, you have my permission and, indeed, encouragement to reserve tomorrow for your International Quilting Day!
By the way, the quilts are lovely!!!
Thank you!
Wish I had known sooner!!! We’ve been cutting firewood all day and finishing the maple syrup!! 🙂
You can be forgiven, Rita, where firewood and especially maple syrup are involved. You can have a pass to celebrate International Quilting Day tomorrow instead! 😏
Not a quilter, but I sure do admire yours. Beautiful!
Many thanks, Laurie.
