I suppose it depends on what “making everyone else better” means to each of us. Maybe thinking in terms of how we’re doing in protecting our planet, fighting racism, and overcoming inequality?! What works for you?

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: I am extremely grateful that I get to live on the traditional territory of the Wolastoqiyik (Malisset) and Mi’Kmaq Peoples. I acknowledge the damage and injustice that has been done to First Nations Peoples by settlers and that still needs to be addressed and corrected. I promise to revere this land that I live, play and create on; to treat its resources with respect; and to support Indigenous business and cultural initiatives whenever and wherever possible.

I don’t think I need to say how well leadership is going in the UK 😦 The single highlight I’ve seen this year is the current health secretary persuading a journalist to go get his booster right there & then before they filmed the piece he was there for. If that hadn’t happened last week, I’d have nothing for you from this side of the pond.
Nicola Sturgeon in Scotland, Angela Merkel in Germany and Jacinta Arden in NZ get seriously honourable mentions and their populations get looks of envy from me.

Debs, I love and heartily endorse your honourable mentions. We need more leaders like these women and instead we’re losing one of them.

Love the leadership quote! I believe in servant leadership and tried to always walk the talk when I was managing.

Servant leadership is such a meaningful term. Thanks for reminding me of it. And walking the talk is what isn’t happening nearly enough.

That is, indeed, the question!

Thanks for a mind stimulating piece and certainly the leaders Deb mentioned get good grades and I think Biden may also make it into that group but unfortunately I believe we are seriously lacking here except for Singh?

Thanks, Wayne. I don’t disagree that Biden’s heart is in the right place, but a leader is someone who has followers, and Biden doesn’t have enough of them. I think Singh is a good example.

Hmm, I’m trying to process this insightful but sad comment. For many leaders that is not the outcome the world needs. But you knew that already!

I’m not seeing a lot of great leadership in too many countries in the world. I see far more great leadership among grassroots people who come together to solve problems, like the recent flooding in BC.

Great example, Debra. That’s what we need more of.

I tried hard to live this at work and my volunteer life. Building people up is so much better than a negative world.

Exactly. Well said, Bernie.
