There were 3 very rare white giraffes in Kenya until early March.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: I am extremely grateful that I get to live on the traditional territory of the Wolastoqiyik (Malisset) and Mi’Kmaq Peoples. I acknowledge the damage and injustice that has been done to First Nations Peoples by settlers and that still needs to be addressed and corrected. I promise to revere this land that I live, play and create on; to treat its resources with respect; and to support Indigenous business and cultural initiatives whenever and wherever possible.

So deeply sad and moving. What chance for these beautiful beasts as economies struggle and people will do anything to make money.

Exactly. It’s the people who pay and encourage them who are evil.

Something like this certainly cements for me the lack of morality and a severe shortsightedness.

I know, it’s hard to understand, not so much for the poachers who do the killing and who might be fairly destitute, but the people who are paying them, for whom there is not a shred of excuse.

I so agree, Marty. I do agree.

It is completely incomprehensible why some people are so completely without empathy for others including animals.

I know. In the world in which the poachers in Africa live, I can imagine that they are offered financial temptations that far exceed their concern for the animals. The people with the money who do the tempting are another breed altogether. Empathy is nonexistent, greed is all.

It is so sad that this keeps happening. I had never even heard of a white giraffe until I saw this post. Thank you for posting this.

It’s incredibly sad, Geri, I agree. There is so much of nature that is at risk … from human activity. 😥 Thanks for commenting.

I know. So many indefensible acts against wildlife (not to mention against each other). 😥
