I thought I’d try a Wordless Wednesday for a change. This widely disseminated image was taken by the Danish Meteorological Institute on the melting Greenland ice sheet earlier this month.

beautiful
& disconcerting,
dear Jane! 🙂
Thanks, Smilecalm. You are so right, disconcerting is the word. 😥
Reblogged this on Musings and Wonderings and commented:
Looks magical but there is actually ice underneath the water.
Beautiful photo, but so very sad for what it represents.
You’re so right, Maranda. You’re so right. 😥
Thanks for sharing ! We see all the icebergs floating down from Greenland. Thanks for raising awareness.
And they’re so magnificent! Climate change is happening far faster in the far north and I don’t see how it can be reversed. It’s heartbreaking, the loss of a way of life after millennia and also of wildlife habitat, including my beloved polar bears.
Jane, a few years ago a polar bear floated down on a large chunk of ice and landed in Bonavista, our town . He was enticed by the smell from our local fried chicken restaurant, and wandered over there and scared the diners. He was rescued by animal control experts.
OMG!! Love it!
