We shouldn’t be surprised that overfishing is an even bigger threat to our oceans than pollution and plastics; the Europeans who started exploring the northeast coasts of North America in the 15th and 16th centuries did so because they had already depleted the fish stock on their side of the Atlantic – they were looking for new fish stocks. So why do we not hear about this as a major threat to our planet? Thanks to Wayne Woodman at Musings and Wonderings for sharing George Monbiot’s excellent article on the subject.
