Another Hugh story, for kids 2 -5. Kids 3-5 might also like the Robby Robin stories.
Terry Tractor Takes a trip
A tractor named Terry lived in a barn near the sea,
with his friends the horses and lots of kitties.
They all shared a person called Grandpa McVey,
who came to see them every day.
He came to feed them their oats and their hay,
their cat food and gas, but mostly to play.
Terry Tractor was Grandpa’s favourite, all right,
he rode on Terry from morning to night.
He rode Terry to build fences,
he rode Terry to move hay,
and he rode Terry with the boys and girls holding on tight.
Terry Tractor loved giving rides to kids, through and through
Terry loved all the kids, but his favourite was Hugh.
One day Terry Tractor thought,
“I haven’t seen that little boy Hugh at the barn.
I think I’ll go find him, he can’t be too far.”
Terry Tractor got out his maps and some food,
and then he set out to find his friend Hugh.
He stopped at the park where he thought Hugh might be;
he spotted a boy high up in the tree.
But there was no Hugh. Where could he be?
He went to the fort in the park by the shore;
Terry knew that some kids liked the cannons, all four.
He saw Theodore the Tugboat down on the sea.
But there was no Hugh. Where could he be?
He went to the Flower Pots when the water was low.
For playing and hiding it’s a great place to go.
He saw kids running and shrieking with glee.
But there was no Hugh. Where could he be?
Then Terry got on the road and went a very long way.
He saw a bus, lots of trucks, and even a train.
The road was as busy as busy could be.
But there was no Hugh. Where could he be?
“Boo hoo,” said Terry, “I can’t find Hugh!”
Then he thought, “Wait a minute, I know what to do.
I’ll go find Hugh’s house, then I’ll find Hugh too.”
Terry used his maps and found Hugh’s street.
Kids were out playing in the summer heat;
they all waved when they saw Terry – what a treat.
Then Terry saw Hugh and he gave a big smile,
and his engine, it purred like a cat.
Terry the Tractor had found his friend Hugh,
and that, as they say, is that.
THE END

I like the idea of ‘sharing a person’. The perspective on the tree climber is great!
Oh, what a great story. I love the pictures. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Cecilia. I’m glad you stopped by.
